My concern is even if we can reverse the illegal activity, the damage will be done.
A rare moment of optimism in my brain just now: It can be maddening for those of us observant/informed enough to have seen all of this coming long ago, who understand the underlying systemic problems that led to the present moment. But others are beginning to understand, and more will at a rapid pace.
I think of this: "they *believe* so strongly in the eternity of the system that made them so rich, that they think their depredations couldn't possibly destroy it. The problem is that the law is more for protecting them from us than it is for protecting us from them, and has been for most of US history."
has been for most of US history
IF we make it through, it could be awesome ✊
Said she, weep not, I'll undertake at ease,
To gull this novice-devil as I please;
He's young and ignorant; has nothing seen;
Thee; from his rage, I thoroughly will skreen;
My little finger, if I like can show
More malice than his head and body know.
The kids are alright
Quick observation from my actual attempted use of genAI (in this case, Notion's) -- It's not just the model, but the system designs, that seem to err towards more "creativity", for example putting more things in context. I wanted Notion to summarize just two documents, but it clearly used content from the parent document in its response. This poisoned the output, because the content was different.
Most use cases where I actually want to use the capabilities, I don't want expanded context.
The idea that more context is good is highly ...contextual... and that seems lost on these tools. It isn't just a hallucination, it's that the system isn't designed to constrain the model in order to achieve the desired outcome. I'm left to prompt engineer the constraints, e.g. "Do not use content from documents A, B, C. Only use content from X, Y, Z," which is too much hassle for the value being provided by the generation.
These writers doing a good job
