Yesterday I learned the phrase "in a walk", "The phrase comes from horse racing in the late 19th century. If a horse was so far ahead that it could slow down and still win, it might 'finish in a walk'. The idea spread to other contexts, where it took on the broader meaning of achieving something with minimal effort or competition."
